The Town of East Gwillimbury (EG) provides a variety of recreational camps including PA Day, March Break, Winter Break and Summer camps! Explore our full list of camp programs below.

Due to COVID-19 there are limited space available in each of the camps. We encourage residents to save their space by registering early.

COVID-19 and camps | What to expect

Please note that participants who are unable to follow by these new guidelines (such as physical distancing & mask wearing) may be removed from camp for the safety of themselves and other participants.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, The Town of East Gwillimbury Summer Camps will follow camp guidelines released by the Ontario Ministry of Health and York Region Public Health. In the event that the Day Camps for Summer 2021 are cancelled under the direction and guidance of the Province of Ontario and/or York Region Public Health, full refunds will be issued.

 Screening of camp participants
  • Campers will be required to complete a COVID-19 Screening each day while waiting to be check in at the facility.
  • Campers will be required to have a temperature check during the screening each day prior to camp.
  • If a camper fails the screening (symptoms or exposures), they should not attend camp. Please email Recreation Services if your child will be absent.
  • Campers will not be permitted to return to camp until they have a positive screening.
 Symptomatic camp participants
  • Should a campers start exhibiting symptoms during the camp day, strict protocols will be followed beginning with the camper being immediately isolated from the rest of the camp.
  • Immediate pick up is required (within 60 minutes). Please ensure at least 1 of the camper's emergency contacts is able to pick up within 60 minutes.
  • Campers will not be permitted to return to camp until they have a positive screening.
 Safety at camp
  • All campers & staff will be required to wear a face covering at all times. Outdoor mask breaks will be scheduled daily. 
  • All camps will have a small group format.
  • Physical distancing of 2 metres will be emphasized and enforced, with the exception of staff interventions for behaviour management and issuing first aid where necessary.
  • Equipment and supplies will be cleaned and sanitized between uses. Where possible, individual supplies and equipment will provided.
  • Frequent hand washing will be enforced throughout the day.  Hand sanitizer will also be available.
  • Campers will spend most of their day outdoor, unless there is inclement weather.

Hockey and Skating Camp will not be made available for registration at this time due to the Provincial regulations. Staff will continue to monitor the ongoing changes and provide updates as regulations allow.

Registration Information

Late registrations
 Registrations that are submitted after a session has begun will not be pro-rated
Late pick up fee 
 Failure to pick up your camper by the designated time will result in a late pick-up fee.

The following discounts apply to our 2021 Summer Camp programs:

Third and subsequent child(ren)

When there are three or more children in the same family taking part in the same week of summer camp, the third and subsequent child(ren) will receive a $20 discount.


You can add your child to a waitlist online for the 2021 season.

Refund policy 

In the event that the Day Camps for Summer 2021 are cancelled under the direction and guidance of the Province of Ontario and/or York Region Public Health, full refunds will be issued.

Full refund

If a program is cancelled before the session begins, you will be contacted by telephone and issued a full refund. 

Partial refund

You will receive a partial refund if a written request is received by Recreation Services one week before the camp starts. Refunds will be deducted $20 for the administration fee. We regret that we are unable to reimburse funds once a session has commenced. 


If you wish to transfer your child from one camp to another, there will be a $20 administration fee. Mid-week transfers will not be accommodated.


Before each camp day, please review and complete the COVID-19 screening questionnaire. If you answer yes to any of the questions and cannot attend, please contact Recreation Services immediately 905-478-3826. There will be no administration fee or doctor note required.

Medical information
Ensure that all medical concerns (medications, allergies, epi-pen, etc.) are completely documented during registration.
Inclusion needs

When considering a recreation experience, please consider the individual needs and that the recreation integrated setting may not be suitable for all persons with disabilities. The Health and safety of participants and staff is paramount, which could result in participants being denied access to the program.

The Town of East Gwillimbury attempts to accommodate requests for additional support for children with special needs. However, due to the number of requests or level of care required, support cannot be guaranteed. Accommodation can be made subject to health, safety and cost considerations. Should your child require extra support, please contact Recreation Services at 905-478-3826 to discuss their needs, information on counsellors, and register.

Summer camp information

First day of camp
Each camper will be provided through email a camp newsletter and calendar the Friday before camp. Please ensure your email on the account is up to date. This letter will outline the planned activities for the week. This email will also include all the COVID-19 screening tools and documents needed to be completed for the week.
What to pack for camp

Please pack nutritious, nut-free lunches and snacks each day in easy-to-open containers. We ask that all campers and families be attentive to others’ special dietary needs. All East Gwillimbury camps strive to be “nut-aware.” In addition, please send campers with a refillable water bottle.

Clothing / Sunscreen

Campers are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes and to dress appropriately for the weather. Camper will spend the majority of their day outside; therefore, hats and sunscreen are strongly encouraged. A knapsack labelled with the camper’s name is advisable, as well as labelling other items. Campers are advised not to bring any valuables to camp, as they are responsible for their own belongings. Please pack additional clothing.

Flexible drop-off and pick-up

Camp hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. You may drop your camper off between 8 and 9 a.m. and pick-up between 4 and 5 p.m.

No busing or extended care is available for 2021.

Absent from camp
If you know in advance that your child will be absent, please send a note to the Camp Supervisor or contact Recreation Services. Camp Supervisors will call home daily to confirm your child’s absence. 
Our staff are selected based on experience, skills, enthusiasm and passion for working with children. Our staff must be certified in first aid, submit a police vulnerable sector check and be High Five certified.
