How can I request a street name?

To request a street name, please complete the Street Name Application Form.

Please explain the reasons for the proposed names and the categories that the proposed name fits. The name must meet the requirements set out in the Street Naming Policy, as outlined below.

Street naming policy guidelines

The Street Naming Policy provides guidelines for naming a street. All street names should fit into one of these categories:

  • Names of individuals or groups in honour of their outstanding community service or historic significance
  • Outstanding Canadians or local veterans and heroes
  • Natural features and botanical names
  • Historic references
  • Miscellaneous
