What is an Interim Control By-law (ICBL)?

An ICBL controls the use of specific lands while a review or study of land use policies is undertaken.

The ICBL allows the Town to evaluate the impacts of cannabis production facilities in EG and make informed recommendations. The ICBL temporarily stops the development of cannabis production facilities Town-wide, with exemptions provided for existing Employment Zones.

How long will the Interim Control By-law last?

Council has extended the Interim Control Bylaw for a maximum of one additional year, lasting to June 9, 2022.

What is being studied?

The study will review the existing cannabis permissions on a federal and provincial level as well as conduct a best practice review for the use at a local municipal level.

The study is intended to provide direction and inform any subsequent zoning by-law amendments as desired by Council.
