The Town of East Gwillimbury (EG) has Superior Tanker Shuttle Accreditation. This is a program that tests the fire department's ability to carry water in fire trucks to areas that do not have water hydrants.

Basic requirements

To gain Superior Tanker Shuttle Accreditation, the following requirements must be met:

  1. Within five minutes of arriving at a scene, firefighters must be able to deliver a minimum of 900 litres of water per minute.
  2. They must also be able to maintain the water flow for two hours with no interruptions.

What is the benefit?

If you own a detached home within eight km (by road) from any of the three fire stations in EG, you may be eligible for a cost reduction in your fire insurance rates.
