Cathy Morton, Councillor Ward 3

Council Cathy MortonCouncillor Cathy Morton was born and raised in East Gwillimbury and continues to enjoy living here. Her family consisting of daughters Karen, her children Madison and Lauren and Kristine, husband Scott and their children Emma and Nolan all continue to enjoy having their home here as well.  She enjoys having her grandchildren so close and spending time with them. 

Councillor Morton was first elected to the Council of the Town of East Gwillimbury in 2000 until 2015. She served on many town committees as well as Chairing a number of Departments. Councillor Morton strongly believes that the most important job of Council is to represent the people and make good policies which in the end will ensure that all residents are treated fairly. 

Cathy has been recognized over the years for her outstanding contributions to our community being presented with three (3) Queen’s Jubilee Medals, Municipal Government Award – Volunteer of the Year and the Award of Excellence for Fighting Crime by the Ontario Crime Central Commission. She continues to devote her spare time to the Royal Canadian Legion, York Region Arts Council and numerous community groups.  

After four years being away from the Municipality, she was encouraged to once again run for the position of Councillor.
