Information for Businesses

In 2011, the Town of East Gwillimbury developed its first Economic Development Strategy to identify economic growth opportunities, provide a blueprint for attracting new industries and to support the retention and growth of existing businesses.

The Town is a designated growth municipality under Ontario’s Places to Grow Act, with a projected population increase from 24,000 to 86,500 people by the year 2031. Employment is forecasted to grow from 7,400 to 34,400 jobs by 2031.

The Economic Development Strategy is aligned with the Town’s Official Plan, which outlines a vision for the Town as a complete, sustainable community where residents can live, work, shop, play and learn. To realize this vision, the Town has set a goal of achieving one job for every two residents.
