Roles and Responsibilities

The function of the Legal & Council Support Services Department is to provide service delivery excellence for Legal Services; Insurance and Risk Management; Real Estate; By-Law Enforcement and Municipal Clerk’s Statutory & Council Secretariat services.

 

Legal Services

  • Provides legal advice to the Municipal Council and Administration on all matters of Municipal and Development law

Insurance and Risk Management

  • Administers the Town's Insurance and Risk Management

Real Estate

  • Administers the Town's property acquisitions and conveyances

By-Law & Licensing Services

  • Lottery Licensing Officer: issues licenses for lotteries: break open tickets, raffles and bazaars
  • By-Law Enforcement
  • Issues marriage licences, Business licences, Taxi licences

Mosquito Control Program

  • Administers the Program for the Town of East Gwillimbury

Municipal Election

  • Administers Town of East Gwillimbury Municipal Election

Office of the Municipal Clerk 

  • Council Secretariat Services: Prepares all agendas, minutes, by-laws and resolutions, and schedules deputations for Council meetings
  • Deputy Registrar: registers and maintains records of births and deaths
  • Official records management
