 Mandate

Our Branch is responsible for permit approval and inspecting all new construction within the municipality. This is accomplished by providing building plans examinations, building inspections of structures, sewage disposal systems, plumbing systems, site services, fire detection and suppression systems within buildings and infrastructure for buildings.

The Building Branch is also responsible for ensuring existing sewage disposal systems are operated and maintained in accordance with the Provincial regulations for the protection of public health and the environment.

Support is provided for the Accessibility Advisory Committee.

In addition, the Branch is responsible for providing comments to other Departments on matters, such as: land severances, plans of subdivision, minor variances and site plan applications.
