“Road Occupancy Permit” Application
A “Road Occupancy Permit” application is received by the Permit Administrator in the CPI department at the counter. The applicant may be a property owner, utility company, developer, commercial, industrial or institutional tenant or a member of the public. The administrator explains the permit process and helps with the permit application.

What is a Road Occupancy Permit?
A Road Occupancy Permit enables the Town of East Gwillimbury to ensure that all safety precautions are followed and Town infrastructure is protected where the temporary obstruction, occupation or encumbrance of part or all of a roadway is required.
How can I apply for a Road Occupancy Permit?
1. Fill out the prescribed Application for Road Occupancy,
2. Submit the completed Form to the Permit Administrator in the CPI department at the counter in person a minimum of 48 hours prior to work commencing,
3. The Permit Administrator reviews the accuracy and completion of the form including but not limited to determining and approving the appropriateness of the application and, where applicable, proof of insurance required under the Contract,
4. Prior to the permit application being approved, our Roads division will conduct a site visit to determine its condition prior to any occupancy taking place,
5. The applicant will agree to and sign off on the site condition before final permit issuance.
Charges:
There is no fee for a Road Occupancy Permit; however; the applicant is responsible for the proper maintenance of the section of road occupied and will be held financially responsible for any clean-up required and/or any damage which occurs.
