E.G. Waterwise
The submission process for the Water Wise program is now closed. Thank you to all those who applied. If you are a successful candidate, someone from the project team will be contacting you.
Purpose
To encourage environmental stewardship within the Town of East Gwillimbury, the Town has developed a Pilot Retrofit Program, open to residents within a specific wastewater service area, to quantify potential water savings associated with installing new water-efficient fixtures and appliances.
Program Overview
The Town has created Pilot Retrofit Program Package, which contains this pamphlet, a questionnaire and new fixtures/appliances information. Interested residents can submit a completed questionnaire. Twelve (12) participants will be selected through a lottery process. The 12 selected homes will receive a number of new water-efficient fixtures and appliances free of charge and must participate in a monitoring program for a minimum of 3 years.
New Fixtures & Appliances
Selected Participants will receive the following new water-efficient fixtures and appliances free of charge:
Toilets, Showerheads, Faucet Aerators, Front-Loading Clothes Washers and Furnace-Mount Humidifiers.
Participant Selection
All submitted questionnaires will be screened for qualifications. The prospective participants will be entered into a lottery. The names of the final 12 participants will be announced in the Town of East Gwillimbury Era Banner.
Inspection Process
The Project Team will schedule a home inspection with the 12 qualifying homeowners. If the home meets the necessary qualifications, a data logger will be installed on the home’s water meter to monitor the “before picture”. Afterwards, a Contractor will remove the existing fixtures and install the new fixtures.
The data logger will then monitor the “after picture”.
Monitoring
Three part monitoring:
· 4-week PRE-monitoring via data logger on home’s water meter prior the removal of
existing fixtures
· 6-week POST-monitoring via data logger after the installation of new fixtures
· The remainder of the 3-year* monitoring via water billing analysis
