Meetings:
These are held on the 2nd Thursday of each month, except July and August, in the Queensville Community Hall at 7:30 p.m. The Queensville Community Hall is located at 1590 Queensville Sideroad. All meetings are open to the public, at no charge. For details of the programs for the monthly meetings, please see the Events section of this website.
Mandate:
The East Gwillimbury Historical Society is a non-profit organization run by volunteers and is incorporated through affiliation with the Ontario Historical Society.
Mission Statement:
The East Gwillimbury Historical Society is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the heritage of East Gwillimbury.
Activities:
Archives: We collect historical documents, photographs and maps pertaining to East Gwillimbury and district. Also the collection of small artifacts that can be stored by the society.
Fairs and Home Shows: The East Gwillimbury Historical Society enjoys attending these events, providing an information table, displaying pictures and relevant documents and talking to those attending about the history of our town.
Pioneer Supper: In October, the East Gwillimbury Historical Society puts on this supper to raise funds for its other activities. There is one sitting, which accommodates 110 people. Every year this is a sold out event! The cost is $15.00 for adults and $7.50 for children under 12. Contact Clare and Nancy Eves, at 905-478-2149, for your tickets.
School Pioneer Programme: During heritage month in February, members of the organization go to 4 different schools in East Gwillimbury, where they set up displays and activities relating to pioneer days. These activities, such as the development of a rural lot from the time a deed was granted to modern times, fire prevention, food preservation, children's toys, or the history of lighting are intended for students in grades 2 to 4.
Parades: The East Gwillimbury Historical Society enters a float in the parade for Mount Albert Sports Day and for the East Gwillimbury Santa Claus Parade.

Membership:
A family membership is $15.00 per family per year. A single membership is $10.00 per year. A corporate membership is $25.00 per year.
