Trail etiquette

The trails are for everyone's enjoyment, so please be safe and courteous around others. It is standard practice when passing on a bike, rollerblades, or skateboard to make others aware of your presence. Use a bell on your bicycle or call "on your left" to announce that you are giving another trail user.

Fast-moving persons

Cyclists and similar fast-moving persons must:

  • Yield to pedestrians
  • Please keep to the right, pass on the left when it is safe to do so
  • Let pedestrians know you are approaching with a friendly greeting or by ringing your bell

Pets

When enjoying our parks and trails, do not forget to clean up after your pet. Please Stoop and Scoop and remember to keep your pet on a leash at all times. Please refer to the Animal Control By-law for more information.

Regional trails

The York Region forest tract is a system of trails suitable for walking throughout the region. If you would like more information on the trails located outside of East Gwillimbury please call 416-667-6299 or refer to the York Region website.

Before you hit the trails, York Region also offers cycling maps and forest information.

Respect the environment

EG's parks and trails are a great place to enjoy the outdoors. It is important to have as little impact on the natural environment as possible. Please stay on the trail and avoid walking or biking through natural areas. When disposing of any items, please use the waste and recycling bins provided.

See a problem or spot graffiti?

EG's parks provide a healthy and safe environment for residents to enjoy.

Let's work together to keep EG's parks, trails, and facilities clean and beautiful! Visit our Community Parks Watch page for more information.
