Green up, clean up

Every Spring, communities across Canada participate in Town Wide Clean Ups. You can do your part and help collect litter from residential areas, parks, open spaces and boulevards. Not only will this environmental initiative make East Gwillimbury look beautiful, it will allow our community to come together and show all of Canada that we care.

How you can help!

Join the Environmental Advisory Committee (EAC) on May 26 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Anchor Park to clean up our Town, visit with local green vendors and environmental organizations! 

Calling all volunteers!
We're looking for individuals to participate in Green Up, Clean Up! Don't miss this chance get involved in your community, if you are interested in volunteering please contact the Environmental Advisory Committee at christine.glenn@hotmail.com.

Registration

Registration beings on May 21 at Customer Service in the Civic Centre. Clean up participants will also be able to register at Anchor Park on May 26. 

Event Schedule:

11 a.m. to noon

  • Pick up gloves and garbage bags at Anchor Park and head out for the clean up!
  • Textile collection (Presented by Salvation Army)
  • Environmental festival 
  • Gassy Bubbles music show 
  • Arts and crafts

Noon to 2 p.m. 

  • Join us in Anchor Park for a free BBQ lunch to say thank you for cleaning up our Town
  • Drop off garbage bags 

Textile Collection:

Textile donations can be items that are worn, torn or stained. All items need to be dry and free of any hazardous liquids such as grease or oils. Participants who make textile donations can enjoy a complimentary hot dog!

The following textiles can be collected: 

  • Clothing and shoes (Adults, children and babies)
  • Accessories (purses, belts, hats and shoes)
  • Household items ( bedding, towels, curtains, pillows and sleeping bags)
