Red Light Cameras

The Town of East Gwillimbury now has red light camera at the following two intersections:

  •  Leslie Street and Green Lane East
  • Yonge Street and Green Lane East at Green Lane West

If drivers are already in an intersection when the signal changes to red (when waiting to turn, for example) you are not considered red light runner.

As of January 1, 2010 the set fine for running a red light detected by a camera system was increased to $260.00, plus a $60.00 victim surcharge and a $5 court cost. The total payable is now $325.00. Demerit points are not issued with violations detected by the red light camera system.

The set fine for running a red light when caught by a police officer is $325.00. Failure to stop for a red light where a police officer issues a ticket results in three demerit points.
