East Gwillimbury Strategy
The Town needs to take action immediately
As a result of the impending infestation it is imperative that the Town take action to formulate a cohesive planned approach in managing the effects of this predator and protect our natural heritage and in particular the Ash tree population in East Gwillimbury. The Town will use best practices of other municipalities who have been fighting emerald ash borer infestation since 2002.
The Town has committed to a three phase process. Phase one ensures that we educate our residents. Phase two determines the effects and related cost associated with emerald ash borer infestation in East Gwillimbury, and in particular the number of trees that could be effected in our parks and on our streets.Phase three consists of options that will follow and can be used to fight and control the infestation and a decision on which option to use will be dependent on the findings of the tree inventory (phase two).
