Town Plans and Strategies

The Town’s various plans, master plans, and strategies are comprehensive long-term strategies for managing the Town’s future growth and development. Here you will find information on long-term strategies such as:

  • Strategic Plan: The Strategic Plan for the Town of East Gwillimbury is Council’s vision for the future direction of the corporation. It uses the Community Vision, Core Purpose and Corporate Values and three strategic pillars to guide how we will continue to build on our investments and provide quality programs and services for our residents.
  • Official Plan: An Official Plan describes the Town’s policies on how land in the community should be used and helps to ensure that future planning and development will meet the specific needs of your community.
  • Cultural Plan: The Cultural Mapping Project launched in 2011 provides the Town, its partners and the broader community with an understanding of the rich diversity of our community's cultural resources and to serve as a tool to support economic and broader community development objectives.
  • Active Transportation & Trails Master Plan: This master plan identifies a recommended future network of on-road and off-road trails and active transportation corridors designed to connect East Gwillimbury’s urban and rural communities and promote increased active transportation throughout our community.  It also identifies priorities for network implementation projects over the next 25 years, as well as supporting policies and programs to promote walking and cycling, particularly in the areas of education and safety.
