Mayor Column December 2016

We are coming to the end of another busy year in East Gwillimbury.

2016 has been a year of many exciting things happening in East Gwillimbury. I would like to thank everyone who donated to the Town’s annual Toy and Food Drive. The Town provided direct support to 18 families in our community and provided thousands of dollars worth of toys and food to local community groups to share with families. Your support will help to brighten many faces on Christmas morning.

On behalf of Council, I invite you and your family to our annual New Year’s Eve event at the Sports Complex. This is a free event which will feature a family and youth skate, face painting, outdoor ice zone and concert – fun for everyone. As always, we will close the night with a New Year’s Eve countdown and fireworks at 9 p.m.

Council will also be hosting our annual Pancake Breakfast and free family skate on January 14, 2017. This event will be held at the Sports Complex from 9 to 11 a.m. I hope to see you all there and have the opportunity to wish you and your family a happy 2017.

I extend my best wishes to everyone for a safe and happy holiday season. I hope you are able to take some time to visit with family and friends and enjoy the season.

Please if you are travelling on the roads, be responsible and do not drink and drive. Plan ahead and make appropriate arrangements to get where you are going safely, keeping our family and friends safe on the roads. In addition, the winter weather is upon us and the roads can be slippery so please drive with this in mind.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!
