Environmental Advisory Committee

Purpose

To advise and assist Council by making recommendations on issues relating to the four R`s (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Recover).

To educate the public on how to reduce harmful emissions and energy consumption.

To address challenges associated with growth today and in the future as mandated by the Places to Grow Act by way of finding common-sense solutions to environmental problems.

Composition Minimum 6
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Engage the community through participating in or organizing community activities of an environmental nature and promote such activities.
  • Provide our community with educational opportunities in areas such as environmental awareness and sustainability.
  • Be aware of and promote Council initiatives of an environmental nature.
  • Monitor Council’s deliberations and provide comment when appropriate.
  • Be available to forward citizen concerns to Council.
  • Where appropriate liaison with Town departments such as Community Programs and Infrastructure and Economic Development and Sustainability.
  • Engage with other advisory committees to promote the EAC and other committees’ initiatives
