Tara Roy-DiClemente, Councillor

This is Tara’s first term as Councillor in the Town of East Gwillimbury. She began her career as a manager in the insurance industry, later moving to the publishing industry. For the past 12 years, she has worked in the editorial, sales, distribution and product management areas of publishing. She has worked with large multinational firms like Disney, and bestselling authors such as James Patterson and Gordon Ramsay. She also has strong experience working with independent businesses across Canada.

Her most recent role was International Sales Manager for Key Porter Books, where she oversaw the export and translation of Canadian books to the US and abroad. In that role, she was also responsible for creating and launching a digital strategy for electronic books.

Tara has served the community as a Library Board Trustee. She is also a past member of the East Gwillimbury Trails Advisory Committee and, in the fall of 2009, she was instrumental in the formation of the Sharon West Homeowners’ Association.

Tara holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from Queen’s University and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Publishing from Ryerson. Committed to continuous improvement and education, she has recently completed a Certificate in Horticulture from the University of Guelph.

Tara’s husband Michael is a teacher with York Region District School Board. They are the proud parents of two little boys.

Message to Residents:

I am proud and excited to have been elected to Council in East Gwillimbury! As we grow together, I want to help shape a Town we will all be proud of. I will work to represent you with energy, creativity, professionalism and integrity. I look forward to sharing this journey with you.
