Web Site Advisory Committee
Purpose
The Website Committee has three objectives:
- to volunteer their time and expertise to design, create and improve the Town website,
- to increase use of the website, and
- to advise the Mayor and Council on matters relating to the site.
Activities
The committee works to ensure that a wide range of municipal information is readily available in a resident-friendly format. The committeee has been actively involvled in expanding the Town's collection of photographs which depict East Gwillimbury as a great place to Live! Work! and Play!
Photo Contest
Our 2007 photo contest was so successful, we're hosting another contest. With categories of Laughter & Leisure, Streetscapes (old or new), and People on the Move, the contest commences in November of 2008 and continues until May 29, 2009. Click here for Official Contest Rules.
Promotion
We strive to ensure that the Town's Web Site is a comprehensive electronic tool that residents can use to find information about the services the Town provides and the amenities available to them both within and around our town.
Continuous promotion of this website includes inviting residents to visit the site to vote electronically for their favourite Photo Contest entry.
Projects
The committee maintains a list of ongoing and future projects for inclusion on the site. In addition, the members are constantly adding photos to the relevant sections of the website.
The committee also prepares reports and statistical information for Council.
Awards
The Website Committee won the 2001 Volunteer of the Year Award for Groups in the Town of East Gwillimbury. The designer of the Town's original web site, Gordana Lamb, also won a volunteer award from the Province of Ontario for her work on behalf of the Town.
