
Farmers Market Advisory Committee
The Farmers' Market Advisory Committee is Comprised of dedicated volunteers who value the importance of "shopping locally", the "100 mile diet" and its relationship to the Town's Thinking Green Sustainability Strategy. The committee is responsible for the planning, organization and continued growth of the East Gwillimbury Farmer's Market which runs every Saturday, beginning at the end of May until Thanksgiving weekend in October.
Responsibilities:
- attracting and retaining vendors which sell locally grown and made products
- attracting customers to the market from East Gwillimbury and beyond
- organizing monthly events
- develop a strong marketing plan which promotes the market through
a variety of ways
- maintain open communication with community groups and organizations who
may be interested in having a presence at the market
- attend the Farmers' Market when possible
- maintain open communication with Town council through end of season reports
Meetings:
The Farmers' Market Committee meets the first Wednesday of every month at 8 am in the East Gwillimbury Civic Centre. The Committee continues to meet throughout the winter months to plan and organize for the Farmers' Market season ahead.
The East Gwillimbury Farmers' Market just completed its second full season and now has an exciting new location at the front of the Town's Civic Centre. It has seen significant growth in the number of vendors and customers in its second season, the Committee is working together to ensure that this growth continues in the years ahead.
