The following is a list of Committees/Boards:

  • Accessibility Advisory CommitteeThe Town of East Gwillimbury is proudly committed to promoting equal opportunity and access for all citizens with disabilities to participate as fully as possible in a barrier free community. The committee works to ensure this goal is met.
  • Business Development Advisory CommitteeThe Business Development Committee makes recommendations to Council on a wide variety of issues related to business in East Gwillimbury (for example, business improvement opportunities for both our existing and future business community or the creation of a positive climate for conducting business in our town). The Committee also acts as a working committee and typically will undertake a specific project or projects related to business.
  • Car Show Advisory CommitteeThe Car Show Committee is responsible for the planning, organization and supervision of weekly events for car enthusiasts of all types. The Sharon Car Show-"Cool Country Cruise In" takes place at the Civic Centre every Saturday 6pm-dusk from mid May to mid September. The show is open to vintage, muscle and collector vehicles. There is no fee to participate and the public is welcome to view the vehicles and enjoy the activities at a number of "Special Show Evenings" which take place during the season.
  • Committee of AdjustmentThe Committee of Adjustment members are appointed for a two-year term and hear applications for severances and applications under the Planning Act for minor variances to the Zoning By-law.
  • Community Recreation Centre Committees
  • Community Safety Advisory CommitteeThe East Gwillimbury Community Safety Committee is dedicated to making a difference in our community. Through a cooperative effort with the York Regional Police, the goal is to promote the safety, security and quality of life in our community
  • Environmental Advisory CommitteeThis Committee is responsible for making recommendations on issues relating to the three Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). The committee members have also undertaken some land stewardship programs such as cleaning river areas of debris. Typically, the committee undertakes a major project every year.
  • Farmers Market Advisory CommitteeThe Farmers' Market Advisory Committee is Comprised of dedicated volunteers who value the importance of "shopping locally", the "100 mile diet" and its relationship to the Town's Thinking Green Sustainability Strategy. The committee is responsible for the planning, organization and continued growth of the East Gwillimbury Farmer's Market which runs every Saturday, beginning at the end of May until Thanksgiving weekend in October.
  • Heritage East Gwillimbury Advisory CommitteeThis Committee (formerly L.A.C.A.C.) is responsible for identifying historical properties that have architectural or cultural significance for recognition through the placement of an historic plaque or through designation. Designations are made under the Ontario Heritage Act and protect the structure from changes which are inconsistent with its significance.
  • Library BoardThe Library Board makes decisions on setting the annual budget and policies for the East Gwillimbury Library.
  • Physician Recruitment and Retention Advisory CommitteeThis Committee is dedicated to being proactive in the recruitment and retention of health professionals to serve the residents of the Town of East Gwillimbury.
  • Property Standards CommitteeThe Property Standards Committee hears appeals to orders issued pursuant to the Town's Property Standards By-law.
  • Santa Claus Parade CommitteeThis Committee is responsible for organizing the annual East Gwillimbury Santa Claus Parade. They welcome new members to the Committee and volunteers to assist on parade day.
  • Trails Advisory CommitteeThe Trails Committee is responsible for making recommendations to Town Council related to existing trails and the creation of new trails within the Town.
