The Town Council has adopted the philosophy of managed, planned growth, a key objective of which is the promotion of economic development. To this end, co-operation between Council and the private sector has led to the development of several industrial areas.
Partially serviced Bales Drive Industrial Park is located north of Davis Drive (Highway 9) between Warden Avenue and Woodbine Avenue in the Town of East Gwillimbury. Comprised of 84 acres of industrial zoned land, this area is easily accessible from all directions, promoting the opportunity for inter-regional economic activity. Many businesses, including Skelton Truck Lines Limited, Technicore Underground and Architectural Precast Systems Inc. are located within this industrial park. An additional 160-acre industrial area immediately north of the existing Bales Drive Industrial Park is currently being developed.
The Town’s Official Plan includes additional employment and industrial areas within the Communities of Holland Landing, Mount Albert, and Queensville.
New commercial and retail opportunities have also been provided on a Regional scale at Yonge Street and Green Lane.
The Town promotes the timely and efficient approval on new employment uses, industries and commercial development in the areas which have been designated for such uses in the Town’s Official Plan. The Planning Branch staff will assist in the identification of sites for proposed new business ventures and industry that fit with the Town’s Growth Management Strategy and other plans.
