Winter Storm Emergency Preparedness

Weather Warnings or Watches

  • The weather forecast for Southern Ontario this weekend includes rain and potential for significant freezing rain (Updated: January 10, 2020).

  • Residents should monitor weather over the weekend and avoid travel where possible.

  • Staff will be patrolling all roads this weekend. Please ensure you are not parking on the street, as maintenance vehicles will need to access roads to treat the roads for freezing rain.

After hours Emergencies

If you have an after hours emergency with regards to water, sewers, roads, or parks, please call 905-478-4282 and your call will be directed to our after hour’s emergency line.

Avoid the risk

  • The best way to stay safe is to limit travel, and stay home where possible.
  • Residents are reminded that if they see a downed hydro pole to stay at least a bus length back. Wires have an electrical charge and cause serious harm. Stay back and call Hydro One at 1-800-434-1235.

Be prepared

  • You should be prepared to take care of yourself and your family for a minimum of 72 hours. By preparing a 72-hour emergency kit you can be prepared to take care of yourself and your loved ones during an emergency.
