Donating this Holiday Season

In 2020 many programs and services have been impacted by COVID-19, including this year's Town's Annual Toy and Food Drive, despite these challenges the Town and other organizations listed below have adapted their annual holiday drives to ensure we continue to support those in need in our community. EG's Holiday Gift Card Drive 

Each year the Town along with the help of community members, schools and businesses collect hundreds of donations to support local charities and families in East Gwillimbury and York Region. This year the the Town is accepting gift card and monetary donations to support our community this holiday season. Gift cards can be purchased for local grocery stories, gas stations, shopping centres or coffee shops. Monetary donations can be made by:

Please note that the Credit Card Authorization Form may only be used for specific payments, and Debit Visa cards are not accepted.

Donations can be dropped at the below locations until Friday, December 11:

Mount Albert and District Lions Club 

The Mount Albert and District Lions Club will be collecting gift cards and monetary donations along Santa’s Tour route on December 5 and 12. Please stay tuned for additional information on how the Mount Albert and District Lions are giving back this season! 

East Gwillimbury Food Pantry 


The East Gwillimbury Food Pantry takes place on the last Saturday of the month at the Holland Landing Community Centre. Donations to the EG Food Pantry can be made by:

  • Visiting www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/6444links to external site, be sure to include “Food Pantry” in the message field
  • In-person at both library branches via cheque. Please note that all cheque donations should be made out to "East Gwillimbury Public Library" along with the completion of a donation form, which is available at both branches.

  •  Purchasing a pre-selected bag of food at Vince’s Market in Sharon or The Neighbourhood Market in Holland Landing

  • Drop off non-perishable food items at the Holland Landing Health Centre located at 19415 Yonge St.

Salvation Army Kettle Campaign 

The Salvation Army is going completely virtual for its 2020 Kettle Bell Campaign with FilltheKettle.com and is removing all manned Kettles by November 20th.

"In Ontario’s Red Zones, The Salvation Army is putting its focus on online donations for 2020.  In this current climate, we must be sure we are doing everything we can to keep each other safe. We have made the decision to protect the safety of our thousands of volunteers, shifting The Salvation Army’s Christmas Kettle Campaign to virtual initiatives."

This year's go-to donation station will allow donors to send in their donations using their mobile phone or computer. All donations made to Fillthekettle.com will be allocated by donor postal code to ensure donations stay in your community.

To donate to the Salvation Army this season: 

1. Make a donation: You can support The Salvation Army’s traditional Christmas Kettles online! Donate at FillTheKettle.comlinks to external site and they'll ensure your donation supports your local community.

2. Become a Virtual Bell Ringer and “Host your own online Kettle”: Set your own fundraising goal and watch the progress on your virtual kettle page) encourage friends, family, neighbours and co-workers to donate to your kettle in support of The Salvation Army. 3. Mail/Credit Card Donations: You can mail in a cheque/or phone in a credit card donation using the below contact information:

Neighbourhood Network Holiday Gift Drive 


Neighbourhood Network’s annual Holiday Gift Drive is Now Open! November 17 - December 18, 2020. It looks a little bit different this year, but still promises plenty of impact! The program supports local families in need who reside in the partnered communities of Aurora, East Gwillimbury, Georgina, King Township, and Newmarket.

  • Donate a gift card,
  • Adopt a family, or
  • Make a monetary donation.

View the list of urgently needed items, as well as more information and how to donate to each partner agency. This year more than ever there is a strong request for gift cards to adhere to COVID-19 safety protocols. 

Group Participation

If your business or community group would like to participate by collecting money and/or gift cards please ensure that all your donations are dropped off at the Town's drop box or one of the library branches by December 11.
