Health & Active Living Plaza

The Health & Active Living Plaza is a multi-function municipal plaza planned for the Town of East Gwillimbury.

The HALP will be located in Queenville off of Leslie St.. The Plaza will feature a Town operated aquatics facility, library branch, gymnasium and indoor and outdoor programs space. The vision is to offer a variety of convenient and complimentary recreational, health, arts, culture, and community services. The plaza is projected to open once the population of the Town reaches 40,000 residents in approximately 2021.

Although the word “Plaza” may seem like an odd name for this facility, it was chosen as this location will be more than just a recreation facility in the traditional sense. The Town is committing to become a service arranger as well as provider. Through partnerships with local community groups and organizations, the HALP will become a destination point in the community for a variety of convenient and complementary services.

The MOU highlights the following YMCA services as potential inclusions at the plaza:

  • Active living and sports programs

  • Immigrant Services
  • Youth programs, including counseling and leadership
  • Older adult services
