What's Available in EG?

The Town continues to prepare plans in-line with Provincial and York Region Public Health Officials’ recommendations to ensure safe access to municipal facilities. Click the following links for an outline of the updates planned to date:

Indoor Amenities 

Community Centres and Facilities 

The Modified Stage 2 Provincial restrictions will reduce occupancy limits within municipal facilities. It is staff’s understanding that the revised occupancy for arena spaces will be 10 per ice pad. At our Recreation Centres and Libraries, occupancy cannot exceed 10 per library space and 10 per gym/program room space. 

Community Parks Recreation and Culture staff will continue to work with our sports groups including East Gwillimbury Minor Hockey Association and the East Gwillimbury Skating Club to provide a safe space for participants.

East Gwillimbury Public Library 

On Tuesday, October 20 both library branches will revert to Stage 2 guidelines. Residents will continue to have access to computers for up to 1-hour, checkout services and curbside pickup by completing the online Curbside Pickup Request Formlinks to external site or by calling their local branch. Staff will be available to assist visitors with finding material as they will not be permitted to handle books or material on the shelves. For more information, visit links to external site

Outdoor Amenities 

All outdoor amenities are open for individual use. For parks, trails and sport field locations, visit our Parks, Trails and Sport Filed page

Guidelines and COVID-19 reminders have been placed at each amenity. Please abide by the signs posted. Guidelines include:

  •  Amenities are open for individual/household use only. No team play is permitted unless it is with members of the same household.
  •  Anyone using these amenities must maintain a minimum two metre physical distance from others.
  • Be sure to follow proper hygiene including hand washing or sanitizing before and after use.
  • Do not share sport equipment with others.
  • When biking, skateboarding, or using a scooter be sure to keep a minimum of five metres distance from others.
  • Please avoid congregating and leave immediately after playing. 

Conducting Town Business During COVID-19

While we continue to navigate the COVID-19 recovery, there are new ways that you can interact with the Town.
Below, are a few commonly requested services and how you can complete them during these unique times.

Paying your water or tax bill 

The Town continues to take payments for water and tax bills through a variety of processes. You can:

  • Pay your bills online through your bank (select East Gwillimbury Taxes / East Gwillimbury Water or
  • Complete the pre-authorized payment form at and email it to taxwater@eastgwillimbury.calinks to external site to sign up!
  • Drop off our cheque at the drop box located at the front of the Civic Centre

Purchase a Green Bin or Blue Box 

During COVID-19, you can still purchase a new green bin or blue box. Green bins are $21.60 and blue bins are $10.90. Visit the Garabge and Recycling Page and email it to Our Customer Service Team will complete the payment and our great Roads team will deliver your bin right to your house! Bins are delivered once a week on Fridays.

Participate in a Recreation Program 

During the beginning of COVID-19, the Town had to close all municipal facilities and cancel all in-person
programs. To help our residents stay healthy and active we launched the Health & Active Living Challenge on our social media channels. All of the videos are still availablewith fun fitness, and family activities at to external site. Now that we are in Stage Three of re-opening we are preparing to launch limited in-person and virtual programs. The Health & Active Living Guide will be available online in late September/early October with details on new programs. Purchase a Fire Permit 

To obtain a fire permit, please visit the Fire Permits webpage, complete the fire permit application form and the Credit Card Authorization form. Please note: the date and signature are mandatory to be included on the application form. Scan both forms and email them to customerservice@eastgwillimbury.calinks to external site for processing
or drop it off at the Town’s dropbox with the completed forms and a cheque for $37.50 in an envelope with your
name, phone number and email address.

Purchase a Dog License 

Dog licenses are $35.60 and $26.40 for seniors (65+). To purchase a license complete the Credit Card
Authorization form on our Animal Control webpage and email it to customerservice@eastgwillimbury.calinks to external site for processing. Customer Service will then mail out the dog tags to your address.

Town Events and Meetings 

Fall Town Events 

Current Provincial regulations limit occupancy for indoor spaces at 50 participants and 100 participants for outdoor spaces including parks. As a result, the Town will not be hosting large scale in-person events for the remainder of the year. Given the success of the Canada Day virtual event, staff will seek to host online events where possible. Council Meetings 

The Town will continue to hold virtual Council meetings for the remainder of 2020. This will include budget meetings for 2021. Upcoming meeting dates and agendas are available at to external site
