East Gwillimbury Emergency Response Benefit for Business

Recognizing the impact that local businesses have on our local economy through job creation, contribution to municipal tax revenues, and through the provision of needed amenities and services, unprecedented measures are required to ensure their survival.
This program is intended to address negative financial impacts of COVID-19 on East Gwillimbury businesses and to support their ability to survive and thrive beyond the current crisis.
The Town is partnering with South Lake Community Futures Development Corporation (SLCFDC) for the delivery of this program. SLCFDC has a proven track record of delivering a loan and grant portfolio of over one million dollars annually in the region and has the capacity to evaluate and provide ongoing business supports and mentorship to any grant recipients.
Eligible Businesses:
- Must be located in East Gwillimbury
- Must be a registered business (sole proprietorship, partnership or corporation where they applicant is the major shareholder)
- Demonstrate a minimum of 30 per cent loss of income
- Demonstrate the ability to maintain operations for 6 months, prior to the COVID-19 Pandemic
Non-Eligible Businesses:
- Corporately owned franchises
- Distributorships
- Non-for-profit or charitable organizations
- Multi-level marketing ventures
- Businesses that are strictly conducted online
Grants will be provided in the amounts of up to $5,000 for businesses employing 1-4 people and up to $10,000 for businesses employing 5 or more people. Priority will be given to eligible businesses experiencing the most significant negative financial impacts.
The initial application intake period will be from May 11 – 22, 2020.
